The fifth largest city in Japan, Sapporo is primarily known for hosting the 1972 Winter Olympics and for the annual Snow Festival or "Yukimatsuri". The event draws more than 2 million tourists every year and is well known throughout the world. The region is also known for its beautiful natural landscapes and flurishing wildlife.
